Furniture as Architecture
Stoller Works produces innovative, modernist furniture.
We have re-imagined the use of standard industrial components and created a series of elegant tables of great
strength and stability. Each leg In our patented trestle structure is machined from a slice of deep steel I-beam
and secured with stainless steel tie rods. The trestle becomes a visually minimal framework on which the tabletop seems to float.
Our designs demonstrate a clarity of structure and an efficiency of materials and fabrication.
Beam Table tops of ash or black walnut are supported by high-strength aluminum to form composite structural frames.
Our large tables are stable and show minimal deflection under edge loads of 275 pounds.
The tabletop frame bolts to the beam legs creating a rigid trestle assembly and eliminating the need for a low
and invasive reinforcing stretcher bar. The vertical web of each stabilized beam leg can support a load
in excess of 1,500 pounds.
All of our materials and methods of manufacture follow accepted sustainable standards. We use FSC certified,
local or farmed hardwoods that are finished with tung oil. Appleply plywood is FSC certified, meets new environmental
regulations, and is finished with UV cured epoxy acrylate. Beam sections are cut from remainder lengths, and steel parts
are finished with powder coat, black oxide or low VOC paints. Aluminum bars are machined, hand polished and anodized.
